Healthy company catering from Cultina

Headquartered in Gütersloh, Cultina has 27 operations nationwide and is part of the Bertelsmann subsidiary, VIVENO Group GmbH, along with Parkhotel Gütersloh and Gastico Event Catering. Customers include Gütersloh area organizations such as the Bertelsmann Corporate Center, the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Sononpress, Mohn Media and several Arvato companies. Cultina also serves the Random House Publishing Group in Munich. Companies outside the Bertelsmann Group have contracts with Cultina as well. And in 2010, Cultina expanded its services to include kindergartens and schools. Today, Cultina serves approximately 8,000 guests every day.

How Cultina delivers healthy company catering

Cultina is committed to offering healthy and balanced meals and in doing so, makes a decisive contribution to company health. To achieve this, high-quality food from regional suppliers is used. All employees are trained in food hygiene and infection control. A variety of menu selections and a balanced mix of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes ensures healthy meals every day. Particular attention is paid to the use of fresh food and herbs as well as oils and fats with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids.

One menu line, “Vitality in Balance”, was developed by nutritionists according to the recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Ernährung) and shows its nutritional value at serving. The dishes are cooked low in fat and nutrient friendly (e.g. steaming the vegetables), to preserve vitamins and minerals. Additives and flavor enhancers are also avoided.

Through campaign weeks, guests’ individual wishes are also taken into account. Site chefs organize seasonal and theme-related events such as the Brigitte Diet, Exotics from the Sea, Western Action or Fine Foods from Cloisters. In general, care is taken to ensure that at least one vegetarian dish and side dish and fresh salads are offered every day. Guests can also assemble their own meals from various components. To prevent cooked foods from standing for a long time, dishes are produced in batches.

At the forefront of sustainability

Cultina consciously selects its suppliers and products. When purchasing, the company pays attention to the German seal “Regio 150 - from the region, for the region”, in an effort to support local suppliers and farms. Cultina attaches particular importance to high-quality goods and sustainability of its suppliers. In Gütersloh, the Green Lunch has been offered every Wednesday since 2013, serving only climate-friendly food: All dishes are prepared without red meat (beef, pork, lamb, game), high fat milk products or “fruit by air” – products imported from far away – as water consumption and CO2 emissions are particularly high for such items. Cultina even focuses on sustainability when it comes to cleaning agents, using environmentally friendly ECOLAB products which are highly effective with maximum hygiene but also save water and energy.
